If you’re new to the Shakedown, of course it’s only natural that you’ve got questions.  Here are the ones we’re asked the most. If you don’t find your answer here, visit our forum or call or email Customer Service for a direct response.

How can I customize the smoothie to fit my taste?

First of all, experiment with different approved fruits and combinations until you find your favorites! You can adjust the recipe by adding more water or unsweetened cranberry juice or a little extra fruit. Also, try blending the fruit and water first before adding the oil, seeds and protein powder into the blender. When it comes to flaxseed oil, we’ve found that the Hi-Lignan Flaxseed Oil is the best-tasting on the market. For a different texture, you may want to try adding varying amounts of ice cubes.

Can I do the program without the supplements?

The Fat Flush Kit supplements are highly recommended for ideal results. Three time-tested formulas—Weight Loss Formula, Dieters’ Multivitamin & Mineral, and GLA-90—support optimal nutrient intake during rapid weight loss and ongoing weight control. They also help to stabilize blood sugar, reduce fatigue, and support healthy liver and skin function with enzymes, amino acids, and essential fats.

Can I use another kind of salad dressing instead of the flax oil and lemon?

Yes! There are plenty of salad dressing recipes that are Shakedown-friendly. You’ll find a variety of different options in the recipe section of smoothieshakedown.com. Or, look for adaptable recipes in Dr. Ann Louise’s Fat Flush books—The Fat Flush Plan, Fat Flush for Life, and The Fat Flush Plan Cookbook.

Do I have to follow the exact dinner menu or can I create my own recipes?

The dinner menu featured in the protocol is just a sample. As long as you stick to the approved foods and spices, you can be as inventive as you like! For example, enjoy a grilled chicken salad or Fat Flush-style “spaghetti” with lean beef, fresh tomatoes, veggies, and spaghetti squash! Find delicious Shakedown-friendly recipes here.

Can I use Whey Protein in place of or along with the Body Protein?

The Shakedown was designed to be used with Body Protein because studies show it helps reset metabolism and intensify weight loss results. Fat Flush Whey Protein can be used as an alternative for those who prefer it, however, please be aware that Whey Protein may not provide the same long-lasting satiety as Body Protein. Some people have reported success using 1/2 scoop Whey Protein and 1/2 scoop Body Protein. Whey Protein is also a great option for those allergic to rice.

What if I get hungry between meals or after dinner?

Have one of the approved snacks (veggies, hard-boiled eggs, or a third smoothie) if you get hungry! It’s important to make sure that you are eating every three to four hours. Avoid eating two hours before bedtime.

I’m a vegetarian, how can I adapt this program to fit my lifestyle?

The Shakedown is excellent for vegetarians! Fat Flush Body Protein is vegan, and with the exception of the daily meal, no other modifications should be necessary. Tofu may be consumed twice per week, and in addition, a third daily smoothie should be standard protocol for sufficient protein.

What are Chia seeds?

Chia seeds are considered the world’s most fiber-rich food (soluble and insoluble), and highest natural source of omega-3s, which have been proven to lower fattening hormones like cortisol. They are extremely nutritional dense, gluten-free, and abundant in antioxidants, vitamin C, minerals, fiber, essential fatty acids, and protein. They contain 2 times the protein of any other seed or grain, 8 times more omega-3s than salmon, and 3 times the antioxidant strength of blueberries. Plus, they are a delicious addition to smoothies, salads, entrees and more!

Can I still drink coffee?

Yes, but limit yourself to one cup of organic coffee per day. You’ll have so much newfound energy on the Shakedown that you won’t even miss it!

Is exercise recommended on this plan?

Yes, but remember to keep you body nourished and add in extra snacks as needed (including a third smoothie if necessary). Given the accelerated nature of this program, only light to moderate exercise—such as walking, biking, rebounding (jumping on a mini-trampoline), or yoga—is recommended.

I’ve had really good results during the two weeks, can I keep doing the Shakedown?

If you have 50 pounds or more to lose, you can stick to this particular program for up to one month at a time. In order to maximize your results, it is recommended to take a one-week break before starting another two-week round of the Shakedown. During the break, enjoy one smoothie and two Shakedown meals daily or follow Classic Fat Flush Phase 1 or 2 in order to stay on track.
